A semi-autobiographical account of adolescence in South Essex during the 2000s, Growing Pains explores the fragile period of time between who we are and who we are becoming.
Drawn from collective memory, the work traces the rites and rituals of youth: long nights, mischief, friendships and exploring freedoms. When summers felt endless and life was both beautiful and painful.
Scenes are set amongst high streets and estates, bedrooms and public transport, these images revisit the places that shape us. Part fact, part fiction, all feeling, they capture a time of uncertainty, when you begin the long journey of self discovery.
This body of work is a love letter to growing up and the landscapes that shape us, for better or worse.
